Larissa Ione’s bestselling Demonica series has captivated fans with its sensual blend of dark passion and demonic fury. Now she takes you to another intoxicating world—where a dangerous clan of wild vampires rules the night…

Nicole Martin was only eight years old when the vampire slaves rose up in rebellion and killed her family. Now she devotes her life to finding a vaccine against vampirism, hoping to wipe out her memories—along with every bloodsucker on the planet. But there’s one thing she cannot destroy: her searing, undeniable attraction for the one man she should hate and fear the most . . .

A member of the renegade vampire MoonBound Clan, Riker is haunted by demons of his own. When he recognizes Nicole and remembers how her family enslaved his loved ones, his heart burns for vengeance. But when he kidnaps Nicole and holds her in a secret lair, his mortal enemy becomes his soul obsession, his greatest temptation, and, perhaps, his only salvation—a hot-blooded lover who could heal him with her touch . . . or bury him forever.

Expectation: I have heard some good things about this author but never read anything by her. Interested to see how this novel plays out. Not sure how I feel about vampires being servants…

Reaction: Um…no. I don’t like vampire being servants. I know they aren’t real but if they were reality I don’t see them being servants. Let’s talk about Riker…he’s really whiny. I’m just saying, for a vampire he whined a whole hell of a lot. I guess because we actually switched perspectives that that’s why I feel this way. I don’t know – most times I felt that Nicole was whiny as well. I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy both of them but I’m confused as to why Riker felt so strongly about his deceased mate if he wasn’t imprinted and didn’t love her. Most of the time I enjoyed Riker and Nicole together. I think the plot (besides the slave part) was good. I liked the ending and how we got to know more about Riker’s clan leader – it was a good cliffhanger leading to the second book. I will most likely continue to series and I’d like to read other novels from Ione.  I am giving this book a 3/5 stars because I had some issues with the plot. Overall I did enjoy the novel.
